An almost identical looking plaza to the famous Parisian squares in the capital city, Place d'Albertas is one of Aix's most romantic spots.

The plaza was built in the 18th century, and the distinctive architecture of the surrounding buildings give Place d'Albertas an almost Commedia del Arte air - indeed, it is not difficult to imagine carriages emerging from the adjoining Rue Espariat, or else court ladies waving from one of the overlooking balconies.
