28/05/10: Roland-Garros in the City
Inauguration of "Roland-Garros in the City", an unique concept.
(Roland-Garros dans la Ville).
Esplanade of Paris Townhall.

Leica Digilux 3
Leica D Vario-Elmarit f/2.8-3.5/14-50 mm ASPH.
ISO-100, F/6.3, 1/200sec, 14mm

The aim: to create a festive tennis-inspired atmosphere and to bring the excitement of the French Open to the heart of the city by organising a whole host of activities and entertainment, with free access to the public.

Finding out about tennis and playing on the various courts set up specially for the occasion - a genuine clay court and a mini-tennis court for kids.

The tournament’s top matches shown live on a 55m² giant screen, including the quarter-finals, semi-finals and men’s and women’s finals.

A wide range of fun activities, including autograph sessions and exhibition matches featuring some of the big names in tennis who are taking part in the tournament, French Open “Legends”, France’s top junior players and much more...

This was the motivating factor behind the French Tennis Federation’s decision to develop the tournament and to make it more readily accessible via promotions such as Evening visitors (Les Visiteurs du soir) and We’re all going to the final! (Tous en Finale !)

Inaugurated by elected members: the mayor of Paris and the President of the French Federation of Tennis.

The mayor of Paris, Mr. Bertrand Delanoë.

Jean Gachassin, President of the French Federation of Tennis.
