Les Tuileries

In parallel with the "Richard Serra" exhibition at the Grand Palais in Paris, the Musée du Louvre presents in Tuileries Gardens, for a period of six months, the famous work "Clara Clara" that the artist created specially for this site in 1983, during the retrospective exhibition devoted to Serra organized by the Musée national d’Art moderne at the Centre Pompidou.

Les Tuileries

"Clara Clara" is a monumental sculpture (36 meters in length and 3.4 meters in height) composed of two large, slightly inclined steel curves. Situated in the perspective linking the Arc de Triomphe and the Louvre Museum, this important example of contemporary sculpture gives a new vision to Le Nôtre’s classic garden. According to Serra, whose sculptures are involved in a subtle dialogue with their surroundings, "Clara Clara" is the most baroque work he has ever created. After its presentation in the Tuileries Gardens, the work will be installed permanently in a public site in Paris.
