03/04/12: Manuel Pandalis
Born in Brilon, Germany, in 1972, the photographer with roots in Greece began his career in his early twenties as an assistant to various professional photographers. After a five-year interlude in the music industry, he initially returned to his job as an assistant before becoming a freelance photographer; specializing in fashion and portrait photography, in Hamburg in 2004. He opened his own studio in the city in 2006. His clients include numerous prominent fashion labels and designers, and his work has been shown in international magazines.
Alongside his purely commercial work, Manuel Pandalis is developing an increasing interest for his own concepts: "Some time ago, I realized I was fascinated less by a model's facade than the person behind it. For me, beauty is first revealed when I feel a rapport with the person." He has now been working on the 'Pure' portfolio since 2007 and sees this ongoing project as an essential part of his work.

07/03/12: MADE Spring Fashion Week 2012
Milk Studio in New York selected Leica as a partner for this year's "MADE Spring 2012 Fashion Week". Billy Farrell Agency, covered the events with the S-Sytem. Another group of artists and photographers also attended the Fashion Week, equipped with Leica S2, M9 and X1 camera systems.

Yangtze, The Long River
Nadav Kander, born 1961 in Israel, creates images in an age of radical change: in a series awarded the famed Prix Pictet in 2009, he photographed a China in the process of revolution.
Traveling along the Yangtze River, he took serene pictures of people haplessly facing overwhelming change. In these pictures, the river—China’s main artery—becomes a metaphor of constant transformation.

Following in the footsteps of Henri Cartier-Bresson and Elliott Erwitt, Craig Semetko delights in the spontaneous moment has a keen eye for serendipity. He captures the offbeat and the unusual everywhere around us. His photographs are clever and sophisticated - they intrigue and provoke us, while frequently leaving us with a smile on our faces. Perhaps the special sense of humor often reflected in Semetko's images is based on the fact that the American is not only a photographer but also a well-known stand-up comedian and actor.
Just like his famous rolemodels, Semetko also works with a Leica - the pictures presented in 'Unposed' were all taken with Leica M cameras.

11/07/11: Alex Majoli
Alex Majoli, Italian, born in 1971, graduated from art school in 1991. After becoming a full member of Magnum Photos in 2001, Majoli covered the fall of the Taliban regime in Afghanistan, and two years later the invasion of Iraq. He continues to document various conflicts worldwide for Newsweek, the New York Times Magazine, Granta and National Geographic.
Within the context of a cooperation agreed between Magnum Photos Inc and Leica Camera, both parties now work together on a number of projects intended to write further chapters in the story of their many years of engagement in the field of documentary photography.

Jing Huang, born in Guangzhou and now a resident of Shenzhen, China, was just named as the recipient this year’s Leica Oskar Barnack Newcomer Award.

Jan Grarup (Danish, b.1968) has over the course of his eighteen-year career photographed many of recent history’s defining human rights and conflict issues. Grarup’s work reflects his belief in photojournalism’s role as an instrument of witness and memory to incite change, and the necessity of telling the stories of people who are rendered powerless to tell their own.
Jan received the first prize in the highly prestigious photographic competition, the Leica Oskar Barnack Award 2011, for this project: "Haïti Aftermath".

Valli spent most of his career as a geographical photographer working for the National Geographic and the Sunday Times capturing more inaccesible locations in the world on camera. He specializes in mountain scenery and is an expert on the Himilaya Mountains, and in 1999 directed the adventure film Himilaya about survival in the Himilayas starring Seven years in Tibet star Lhakpa Tsamchoe.
Valli spent most of his career as a geographical photographer working for the National Geographic and the Sunday Times capturing more inaccesible locations in the world on camera.
